Meet Christian

Okay, I feel like this is my right of passage.

It's time for my first video montage!

Everybody loves a montage, right?

This is the very first one I've ever made and I feel really nervous exposing it. I know that sounds funny but I feel like it's my heart right here for everyone to see. Yes, I know, I've been exposing everything since my very first blog post. But this is different.

A few things...

The montage chronicles Christian's life since he was born. I thought it was important that everyone know him from the beginning. Many people who follow Christian's Journey only know him from the time of the accident. So I want everyone to know him from before the accident, as well as who he is today.

It's also important for everyone to see not only pre-accident, but how far he's come from just after the accident. I'll warn you now that there are pictures that may be difficult to look at from when he was in the PICU. But they're part of Christian's story so I thought it was important that everyone see just how far he's come.

I thought this would be a painful right of passage, but I was sorely mistaken. I'm really proud of this video because I'm proud of the people in the video. When I watched it for the first time, I felt proud, happy, and hopeful. And every time I watch the video I have a big smile on my face at the end.

It's long! It's my first video so I had a hard time scaling down the pictures and videos. So if you can spare ten minutes (yes, ten minutes!), you'll have the opportunity to get fully acquainted with one of the loves of my life - my beautiful boy - Christian.

Meet Christian.

That was such a beautiful collection of photos and videos. I have only known Christian since the accident and this really helped me know him better - that little impish grin he had that still lies somewhere behind that beautiful face that I love - - I am sure of it. I feel blessed to be part of his "team" and to know you Shauna. You shine and he is so lucky to be your son. Peg

Wow. Amazing. Courageous. Inspiring. Beautiful.

Thank you so much for sharing the Christian we have never met. It was wonderful to see. You did an amazing job on the montage. I would have watched it if it was an hour long! :-) He has come such a long way from a year ago, even from 6 months ago! It just makes me know that your Little Superman will continue to prove "them" wrong.

Keep it up, Christian! Keep proving the "experts" wrong!

Much love to you all...

Oh Shauna - I know exactly how emotional putting that video together must have been. I've been there. And it absolutely is a rite of passage. And, it's beautiful! I'm so lucky to be with you on this path. Much love,

Wonderful video, from beginning to end. Christian is lucky to have such a wonderful support system, especially spunky Lola, and that fantastic big brother Gabe.

Shauna- that was amazing!!! I'm totally bawling, but Christian has come so far in such a short amount of time! I can't wait to see what more time and more videos show how much further he makes it. He's proved many doctors wrong, he is such a miracle!

Hi -

You don't know me, but I'm friends with one of your August Mommies (Emily) who posted a link to your blog on HER blog a while back. Anyways - I've been following your blog for almost a year, and I had to post about your video. It was beautiful! I don't know your family, but I cheer every time your son takes a step forward and I'm sad when there are hardships. You are an inspiration - and while this video made me tear up - I'm so inspired by your faith, your love, and your acceptance. Thank you for your writing and sharing!
