Holding Hands

Christian has been given medicine to relax his body. So today when he was moving his arms back and forth, his little hands have been opening and closing. As he brought his hand up, he grabbed on to my hand and I grabbed on to his. I was talking to the nurse and then looked down and realized he'd fallen asleep like this. Everyone together...Awwwwww!

He is the sweetest little boy! I love snuggles and cuddles too - when I can get them :)

I thought I should tell you that Nate looked at a pic of Christian today on Facebook and smiled and laughed. He knows that's his buddy and we are all rooting for him. XOXO

I've been following your story since a friend of mind from a mom's group told us about your little guy. I can't stop thinking about him and I wish him all the best.

I've been praying for you and your family since Nat told me about it (I'm the one who kept her kids while she was out there with you). I continue to ask Nat for updates and he's remained on three of our family's prayer lists at churches. Christian's a fighter and so is your family. God bless!

I am a PICU nurse in Virgina and a friend sent me your blog. A quick story. I was providing care to a 10 yo girl who was a near drowning victim in an indoor pool in late October. she experienced siumilar side effects that you are seeing with your son. I was mad I had to work Christmas day and be away from my family. Everyone said the girl was not going to wake up, she would not be normal. Her pupils were always dilated and never reacted to light, I did the neuro checks every hour and true to form most of the day they were unchanged. At 11am on christmas morning I was zooming in on her eyes and the pupils reacted! Long story short she progressed over the next month, went to rehab for 8 weeks and in June of 2007 that 10 yo girl who was left for dead years ago walked proudly down the aisle of her gradauation to the joyous cheers of her family, friends and several of her PICU nurses. I got my Christmas miracle and I will be praying for yours. I am never sad to work the holidays anymore as I expect God delivers his gifts on those very moments we cherish.

Shauna, what a beautiful picture...

Like Lisa, I've witnessed many many miracles working in the NICU. Christian continues to prove that these miracles DO happen!!

Just found your blog. Christian is so special and I am so glad you are there for all his incredible moments. There's nothing like Mommy to make a little man feel better.

Shauna...what an amazing little fighter you have. I think he is going to surprise all the drs and nurses. I have no doubt that you being there and giving him cuddles and whispering to him and showing him how much you love him is helping tremendously. God works in such beautiful and wonderful ways.

I have a blog for Hailey on Blogspot also (gnjandhailey.blogspot.com) and if you want to respond to a question someone has asked you can either click on the comments and scroll down to where it says post a comment and respond that way....or if you wanted to make a small post about it you could do that too. I hope that helps with the blog info.

Pippa - Thanks! I think he's looking a lot better, too. He gets a little better every day.

Lisa - Thank you so much for that story. It really brought tears to my eyes and I needed to hear it today.

It's nice to see what looks like far less tubing and wires!! A mother's touch combined with God's love does some magical and 'amazing' things!

Keep up the good fight Christian, you can do it!

Our Thoughts and prayers are with you here in NJ
